School Profile

The large building of our primary school is located close to the centre of the town Kreuztal. Currently, more than 300 pupils from many different nations and cultures are taught in 12 classes. Our main catchment areas are the core area of the inner city, the residential area Liesewald and the Fritz-Erler-Estate. The school grounds include a large playground, a playground with climbing equipment and a gym. The school has also multimedia areas in each classroom, a kitchen, an auditorium and a library.

The promotion and integration of all children and the education of respect, responsibility and commitment are among the focal points of our work.

Wolf & giraffe - non-violent communication

Since 2015, non-violent communication according to Rosenberg has been an integral part of our everyday school life.

The giraffe, a master of non-violent communication, performs with its friend, the wolf, at every monthly meeting in the auditorium in the form of a puppet show that the children love. Also, in the classes non-violent communication is practiced in small projects with giraffe and wolf.

Monthly Meeting

Every 1st Monday of the month all children meet in the auditorium for the monthly meeting. Here you can get general information from the school management and the student parliament, songs are sung, there are contributions from the classes and a performance by wolf and giraffe.

Also, our own school song and the motivational rap are sung.

Class Council

In the weekly class council all children talk about problems and wishes within the class. A review in the 'I like'-discussion also creates a positive look at last week.

School-wide problems are passed on from the class council to the student parliament, where they are discussed with representatives of all classes.

Student Parliament

Every Monday the representatives of the classes meet with Mrs. Conrads in the student parliament and talk about problems from the classes or the school and consider possible solutions, which are then discussed in the monthly meeting or returned to the class council.

For example, tasks of the toilet service were developed.

Reading is fun!

Together with the city library we offer as a reading school special offers for pupils. Some classes visit the library and are motivated to read and borrow books.

Reading sponsors help weaker children to read, read aloud and bring the world of reading closer to the children.

The school library is open every Monday and Friday during the first break. Here the pupils can borrow books with their identity cards.

These offerings help our students to further develop the key competence of reading.

In the study group reading club (called AG Leseclub) some children of the 2nd and 3rd grade are particularly motivated to read.

Support & demand

In all grades, support and demanding lessons are offered in the subjects of Math and German. The children are looked after here in small groups. (see Support & Demand in the school program)

Committees for parents

Our parents participate in the following committees:

class nurseries

school staff

school conference

Our study groups (called AGs)

We offer in the school morning and in the OGS time different study groups. These are led by teachers and supervisors.

Friday letters

Every Friday every child receives a Friday letter. This contains a general school review of past actions and dates, as well as all important information for the next week.

Internal class information is also provided here.
